A concept I am eternally in love with, by writer and philosopher G.K. Chesterton, states that “Fairy tales are more than true; not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.”This was the prevailing thought in my mind while reading Cookalilee. Consider, a moment, your favorite fairy tales. Classic. Simple. Universal. They are eternal lessons painted behind the bright colors of heroes and villains, magic and adventure. To me, Cookalilee is a beautiful fairy tale, with a powerful message; especially to those who need to hear it. This story reminds us that sometimes we need fantasy to face reality, and that the true struggle happens in the confines of our minds. And sometimes, we need a reminder that those we love most are the only strength we need to fight our “dragons.”

Garbage.

Very impressive work with a difficult and important subject. This book is appropriate for the intended audience and the story is captivating. I definitely recommend it.
This was a wonderful find on . The author knew her characters inside and out. I wished it could go on longer. This author is an up and coming writer and Im glad to say that I read the first of many. Waiting patiently for the next novel...
This gem of a book is a perfect blend of the whimsical and the wistful. It artfully uses the fantastic to address the tragic aftermath of dealing with domestic violence in a way that is both charmingly simplistic and yet full of sophisticated insights. An absolute must-read for all ages!
